Winter Training
Get your groove on with dryland workouts using a variety of equipment and exercises to develop strength, cardio, agility, and flexibility. Join other SACKC members to work out until spring brings us all back on the water! Fun, fitness and friendships – all ages welcome (10+).
Mondays – Paddling Machines
(Ergometer Training)
• Location: St. Albert Tennis Club
• Address: 9 Mission Ave, St. Albert
• Ages: 10 and older
• Time: 5-6 pm
• Period: November – March
• Focus: Technique, endurance, and strength using paddling machines.
(*Optional) Tuesdays – Canoe Polo & Kayak Slalom
• Location: Kinsmen Sports Centre Pool
• Partnership: In collaboration with Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers – www.paddleewp.ca
• Ages: 10 and older
• Time: 7-8h30 pm
• Period: October – April (contact the Edmonton Whitewater Club)
• Focus: Introduces athletes to Canoe Polo — a fast, fun, and team-based paddling sport.

Thursdays – Pool Paddling
• Location: St. Albert Fountain Park Pool
• Address: 4 Cunningham Rd, St. Albert
• Ages: No age restriction
• Time: 8-9pm
• Period: November – March
• Focus: On-water paddling practice in a safe and warm environment.
• Activities: Balance drills, stroke technique, and fun skill-building challenges.
• Note: Athletes should bring swimwear, towel, and a water bottle.

Saturdays – Team Building & Cross-Training
• Ages: No age restriction
• Time: 10am (TBD)
• Focus: Fun and engaging team-building activities such as soccer, fitness classes, movie nights and REC events.
• Locations: Various community venues (to be announced monthly).
• Period: November – March
• Note: Some activities may require a small entry fee depending on the event.

Covers Mondays, Thursdays & Saturdays (occasionally).

Canoe Polo
​
This is an intermediate kayak course that will focus on the skills needed to do slalom paddling, canoe, polo, and river paddling. Canoe polo is done in partnership with the Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers.
Ergometers
Improve your paddling technical knowledge and specific fitness this fall/winter and get the advantage ahead of others when you hit the water in 2024!
Pool Paddling
For those who are new to the sport and want a gentle introduction, or if you are an experienced paddler, pool sessions will allow you to build and maintain your paddling fitness throughout the off-season.
